1. What's "A Greeting Yard!"?

A Greeting Yard! is southwest Missouri's original lawn greetings rental service, offering a fun alternative to sending bouquets of flowers, balloons, cookies or candy.

We rent our Public Displays of Affection, a.k.a. lawn greetings displays, to help make any occasion even more festive. What could be more fun than surprising someone special? Imagine how shocked your "victim" will be when they wake up to find that they have been flocked, with a yard full of critters and your personalized message on our yard card! They'll love it, just like others have loved their Public Displays of Affection.

We also offer a full line of party supplies.

2. Are reservations required?

Reservations are strongly recommended so we can reserve the type of Critter and/or Larger Than Life display you wish to send. Next-day service is available in a pinch. But your favorites might be rented already, so it's best to book your favorites as soon as possible.

7. How do I place my order?

It's easy! Give us a call at (417) 823-3915 or send us an email. If we don't answer the phone when you call, please let us know that you called so we can call you back after work. We run this business along with working full-time and working on a master's degree, so if we don't answer the phone, we apologize in advance. Our prices are listed here.

Since most of our deliveries are made in the dark, we would appreciate any help you can give us in finding the victim's house. When you call or email, be ready to give us detailed directions and any landmarks to help us find the correct house, such as:

* Number of houses from the corner
* 1- or 2-story house
* Types of vehicles that are probably in the driveway
* Anything else that would help us identify the location in the dark

We look all addresses up and find maps on the Internet, but there are still many occasions when house numbers aren't visible from the street, especially when it's pitch black outside. Also, with all of the construction going on around here (especially in Christian County), a lot of streets are so new that they don't even show up on MapQuest or YahooMaps. So we appreciate any hints that will help us find the victim's house in the dark.

If the Public Display of Affection is going to someone at your house, be sure to leave the porch light on for us. If we're delivering to someone else's house, try to arrange for someone there to know what's going on (without blowing the surprise, of course) so they can leave a porch light on.

Yes, we deliver in most weather conditions. However, we do reserve the right to cancel if we feel attempting delivery would dangerous, if winds are strong enough to blow the display out of the victim's yard, if there are storm warnings, or if ice or snow would prevent us from sticking the critters into the ground. In those cases, we do hope you will understand and we will contact you to reschedule.

14. Do you deliver to businesses or offices?

Yes, we can set up a Public Display of Affection at most places of business, but there are a few special considerations when we set up at businesses. Call us at (417) 823-3915 or email us to discuss the possibility. We can't set up in the right-of-way, set up on concrete or block the view of drivers. Also, we must avoid setting up near a bus stop or where there is a lot of foot traffic, because this increases the possibility of our critters being vandalized or stolen. We don't leave Public Displays of Affection out past dark at places of business either, for those same reasons. But most of the time, we can work something out, so give us a call or email us to see. Click here for some fun phrases and events you might choose for a business.

16. Do you ever participate in fundraising events?

Yes, we would be delighted to help your school, church or club with a fundraiser. A fundraiser with A Greeting Yard! is fun and everyone is tired of selling (and buying) the same old candy, gift wrap and cookie dough. Just give us a call at (417) 823-3915 or email us. We'll need to know the name and contact information for your group's treasurer. We'll provide you with fliers and coupons to share with the members of your group. We'll also provide you with photos and text to include in your email messages and newsletters. Here's how the fundraiser works. When the members of your group (and their friends or relatives) call to place an order, they just need to tell us they're calling for the fundraiser with our organization. For every order, we send $5 to your group. We'll send your treasurer a check and a spreadsheet each month (unless there are no orders that month). The only rule is that no other discounts or special offers can be used with the fndraiser orders. What does this mean? Well, if someone has a coupon for a discount on our services, they'll have to choose -- use the discount or take advantage of the fundraiser. We're unable to do both for a single order.

17. What a fun business! Do you help others get started?

You're right-- this is a super fun business. It's hard to keep up with the many requests we receive each week for information on starting a lawn greetings business, so we have written an ebook full of practical information and advice. It gives you more than enough facts to determine if this is the right business for you before you invest a lot of money. This is an original ebook by a professional writer, not like those copycat ebooks you see for sale all over the Internet. Soon we will offer patterns of our original Larger Than Life characters for other lawn greetings businesses to purchase.

A Greeting Yard! will refund your money in full if you cancel your rental at least 24 hours in advance of delivery. (Note: Delivery is made by 6 a.m. on the day of your event.) 19. Safety issues and other policies

For the safety of your children, please DO NOT allow them to play on or around the lawn greetings display. Yes, we know the critters are cute. But so are your kids, and we don't want them to get hurt.

We encourage you to pose next to the display to take photographs of your celebration. However, please DO NOT pull the critters from the ground.

The critters are NOT toys. Each one has a metal rod stabbed through it. This metal rod helps secure the lawn ornaments to the ground so that they will stay in place.

The critters are made of plastic and WILL NOT safely support the weight of a child leaning on it, sitting on it or playing leapfrog.

Full retail price will be charged to the customer that placed the order (not the recipient) for damaged or missing critters, yard cards, message boards, original Larger Than Life character signs and letters for the yard card.

Please DO NOT attach balloons to any part of the display. Balloons get hot in the sun. If a hot balloon blows against our signs, they may become damaged. If melted Mylar or balloon material has damaged the yard card (message board), original Larger Than Life character, or the critters, full retail price will be billed to the credit card of the customer that placed the order (not the recipient).

Please protect our inventory from any damage that might be caused due to flying debris from lawnmowers, dogs, etc. Contact with string trimmers may cause damage as well. Full retail price will be billed to the credit card of the customer that placed the order (not the recipient) in the event of damage sustained during the rental period.
